Safe Storage and Handling: Preventing Flat Spots and Damage
Storage must be planned before a 1.5 m box arrives — owners who decide 'where does she live?' late are the ones who get flat spots. Hiding and storage quality are the same problem: a hiding place must still meet temperature, dryness and pressure requirements or the doll degrades.
The deformation rules
- Soft material left lying on one surface develops flat spots/compression marks — buttocks and breasts are named most.
- Prolonged bent poses strain material and joints.
- Heat and sunlight degrade both TPE and silicone.
- Accepted solutions: hang by the neck bolt/loop (never by the neck or arms, per care guides), use a stand, or use a padded case in a neutral pose.
Standing feet — read this carefully
Standing feet make standing possible, not safe. Retailer warnings stress third-point support, flat-soled shoes or socks, and that feet and ankles still deform or damage under prolonged load — sharply worse above 35 kg, and lowering a 35 kg+ doll onto its feet demands strength and precision. Never store a doll standing overnight as a default; a product-page warning against overnight standing for 25 kg+ dolls appears verbatim in our sources.
Discreet options, dimensioned honestly
Locked closet, under-bed box, travel/flight case and lockable storage boxes all appear in dedicated hiding guides. Judge any case by internal length vs your doll's height, lock type, and padding — dimensioned product data is what matters, and current priced comparisons are unknown in our evidence, so measure rather than trusting 'fits most dolls' copy. Labelling guidance from sources: use generic labels; 'do not open'-style labels are explicitly advised against because they attract curiosity.
Pre-arrival checklist
- Storage method chosen (hang / stand / case) and space measured
- Load and clearance checked for hanging; padding ready for case storage
- Room is cool, dry, out of sunlight; inspection/repositioning cadence planned (storage is not 'set and forget')
